The Council of Ministers decided to appoint Dr. Robert Eadie as Honorary Consular Officer of the Republic of Bulgaria in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with headquarters in Belfast and a consular district covering the territory of Northern Ireland. The decision officially terminates the functions of Paul Martin, who held this position from June 2017 until his death in July 2025.

Dr. Eadie has a solid authority in British and Bulgarian academic and business circles and a significant public contribution to supporting the Bulgarian diaspora in Northern Ireland and the development of science in Bulgaria. This contribution in recent years includes the establishment of a scholarship for students from the First Bulgarian School "Ivan Vazov" in the town of Armagh; the donation of a training reactor to the Technical University of Sofia; and the provision of funding for the Ethnic Minority Education Conference in Northern Ireland, which helps Bulgarian citizens to begin education in the country.
