Police officers detained for participation in an organized crime group

Seven people, including three police officers, have been charged with participation in an organized crime group for arson, bribery and drug distribution in Sofia and Lovech, reporter Silvia Velikova reported. Among those detained are the head of the capital's Fifth Police Department, an operative and a policewoman from the same district department.

The group has been operating for about a year and a half. Large quantities of drugs were found during the detention.

All the accused have been detained for 72 hours. The director of the State Department of Internal Affairs, Lyubomir Nikolov, said that he had proposed that the three police officers be removed from office.
