Only Ukraine has the right to make decisions on sensitive issues, including territorial ones, said outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev at this year's final regular meeting of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The Foreign Affairs Council also discussed the situation in Ukraine, with the participation of Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha. In his remarks, Georg Georgiev emphasized that Sofia welcomes the adoption of the so-called small sanctions package against Russia’s “shadow fleet”, which directly supports the Russian military machine. The important role of the Black Sea for Ukraine's post-war recovery was also highlighted in this context.
“Alongside the efforts within the EU, it is necessary to intensify contacts with key international partners to secure sustainable and sufficient funding in support of Ukraine”, Georg Georgiev stated.
