Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev met with the “Vazrazhdane” party as part of political consultations with parliamentary formations following the government’s resignation. “Vazrazhdane” has called for elections in March 2026.
“We believe that we should not waste the time of the Bulgarian people and Bulgaria’s historical moment, which is literally running out”, said the party’s leader, Kostadin Kostadinov, questioning the legitimacy of the 51st National Assembly due to the partial annulment of the elections by the Constitutional Court and the entry of a new party into parliament.
The politician also urged President Radev to clarify whether he supports keeping the Bulgarian lev or adopting the euro and to convene the Consultative Council for National Security regarding the introduction of the single currency. “You, like the other political parties, want to turn the consultations into a platform for election campaigning”, President Radev responded.
