Recent events have shown that the current parliament has reached the end of its political life, Yordan Tsonev of the DPS–New Beginning party said on Tuesday. He was speaking during consultations with President Rumen Radev on the formation of a new cabinet, following the government’s resignation.
“Lawmakers should have adopted a regular state budget rather than a rollover,” Tsonev said. “Under the circumstances, however, we will support a rollover budget,” he added.
He reminded that the party of businessman Delyan Peevski, who was sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act, had backed the ruling coalition on the understanding that the prolonged political crisis would be resolved. "We supported their policies without participating in the executive branch," Tsonev underlined.
According to Tsonev, the 51st National Assembly must amend the Electoral Code to make the voting process more transparent. He said DPS–New Beginning continued to support machine voting, “but not with these machines, which are completely compromised.”
