The United States does not intend to take on the role of mediator between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. This was stated in an interview by the U.S. Ambassador to Skopje, Angela Aggeler.

“Regardless of whether EU accession negotiations have begun or not, it is clear what needs to be done to meet the criteria. The roadmap exists, and we would all like to see more progress in this direction,” Aggeler said, speaking about Skopje’s European integration on North Macedonian television channel Sitel.

According to the diplomat, the political crisis in Bulgaria should not endanger the dialogue process, because North Macedonia’s EU membership is in the interest of everyone, including its neighboring countries.
