I hope that Parliament will vote only on the rollover budget. We supported putting the “old” budget forward for debate in the plenary chamber so that all Bulgarian citizens can see who opposes it, said Toshko Yordanov of There Is Such a People (ITN) during consultations with the president following the government’s resignation.
Yordanov said that We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) have begun evading responsibility by exploiting public protests. He added that adopting the euro with a rollover budget is likely to cause problems. Given the current political situation, it would be unreasonable to seek a new reconfiguration of parliament, he stated.
Transitioning from the lev to the euro without a government or a budget carries risks, Yordanov warned. Whatever the consequences, he said, will fall on those who demanded the resignation.
