Bulgarian society is pro-European, but remains divided on adoption of the euro

Over half of those surveyed - 55.7 percent, confirm a positive attitude towards the EU. 37.3% are “against”. This is according to a representative survey conducted at the end of November by the Myara Agency, commissioned by MEP Kristian Vigenin.
50.1% of those surveyed do not agree that Bulgaria should leave the EU. 39.4% agree with such an idea. 50.7% say they are sufficiently informed about the community’s policies, while 37.4% answered negatively and 11.9% did not give an answer. 33.8% say that the country has changed positively since joining the EU in 2007. According to 41%, the change is negative, while for over 20 percent there has been no change.
According to sociologist Yanitsa Petkova, on the eve of the adoption of the euro, society remains divided regarding the common currency. 36% of Bulgarians are "for" and believe that this will have a positive effect. 46% are "against", while 18% are hesitant.
