Bulgaria, along with Belgium, Lithuania and Luxembourg, will officially join the EU SST Partnership for space surveillance and tracking, the European Commission press office has announced, quoted by BTA. The EC gave the green light to their applications to join the partnership with its decision on December 17.
"Bulgaria's inclusion in the
European initiative will contribute to the construction of a modern
space ecosystem that stimulates economic growth by developing the
Bulgarian space industry and promoting international partnerships,"
the government said in November, when it decided to approve the
country's accession to the EU SST Partnership. Agreements for the
inclusion of the new countries are to be signed.
The
SST system has a network of ground and space sensors capable of
observing and tracking space objects, processing and providing data,
information and services for satellites orbiting the Earth.
