New Bulgarian patriarch pays first visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate

At the invitation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and by decision of the Holy Synod, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil will make his first fraternal visit following his election and enthronement to the patriarchal throne of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, the press office of the BOC announced.



On 25 December, the Patriarch will be received at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul, where a thanksgiving service will be celebrated at the Church of St George the Trophy-Bearer. He will then be officially welcomed by the Ecumenical Patriarch.



The following day, at 9:30 a.m., a festal Divine Liturgy will be concelebrated by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Bulgarian Patriarch at the Church of St George the Victorious. On 27 December, at 9:30 a.m., Patriarch Daniil will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Bulgarian Church of St Stephen.
