Bulgarians' expectations for 2026 are more pessimistic than those at the end of 2024, according to a representative survey by the Trend Research Center commissioned by the 24 Chasa newspaper.

28% of respondents believe that Bulgaria is expecting a better year - 10% less than a year earlier. 47% of Bulgarians expect a worse year for the country, while last year the pessimists were 26%.

35% expect a better year on a personal level, and 29% - a worse one. Here too, there is a clear deterioration in expectations compared to the previous year, when 47% expected a better year for themselves, and only 15% - a worse one.

61% of Bulgarians were happy in 2025 - a value close to that reported in 2024. Against this background, 33% define 2025 as good for Bulgaria, with the share increasing by 9% compared to last year. However, the majority or 53 percent define 2025 as bad for the country.
