We all know the famous singers, but the songwriters behind their music hits often remain in the background. If you haven’t heard the name Bilyana Angelova, you have certainly listened to songs written by her. Among them is the undeniable hit “Navisoko”, performed by Miro and Koyna Ruseva. Her songs are also performed by Margarita Hranova, Mariana Popova, Stefka Yanorova, Jaklin Tarakci, and many others. Her latest song, with music and lyrics by Bilyana Angelova and arrangement by Alex Nushev, is “Roman pod dujda” (A Novel in the Rain). The idea for the song was born a year ago as a musical theatre project, but it later found its ideal performers in Orlin Pavlov and Vesela Delcheva.

According to the team behind “Roman pod dujda”, the song carries an elegant message from the heart of the Bulgarian swing revival and big band pop—a promise of a musical fairy tale told with depth and gentle harmony, as if taken straight from a classic musical.

The recording features the musicians Kalin Jechev – piano, Martin Bodurov – trumpet, Ivan Yordanov – saxophone, Dimitar Stoev – trombone, Dimitar Sirakov – double bass, and Stiu Ivanov – drums.
