At a government meeting, the outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov
said that Bulgaria ends the year with a GDP of 113 billion euros,
with economic growth of over 3%. Unemployment decreased by 0.6% in
2025 compared to 2024. There is a record-high collection of revenues
with an increase of over 5 billion euros compared to 2024. Inflation
is around 3.6%.
"Bulgaria has
not been the poorest country in the EU for a long time and this must
be clearly emphasized. We are ahead of Greece, Hungary, Slovakia and
Lithuania and this is a reason for self-confidence of every
Bulgarian," Zhelyazkov said.
The mechanism for
introducing the euro will be upgraded with a coordination center,
which will be headed by Vladimir Ivanov, chair of the Commodity
Exchange and Wholesale Markets State Commission, the Prime Minister also
said.
