It will be cold and windy on New Year’s Eve. Mostly clear skies are expected, with temporary increases in cloudiness. Light snow will fall in some eastern and mountainous areas. There will be light to moderate westerly and northwesterly winds. Around midnight, temperatures will be near their lowest: from around −11°C in some southwestern valleys, to −4°C to −3°C in other areas; in Sofia around −8°C.

On the first day of the year, the weather will be mostly sunny. Winds will be light to moderate from the west, shifting to the southwest by evening, bringing a rapid warming. Maximum temperatures will range from 0°C to 5°C, in Sofia around 1°C.

It will be mostly sunny along the Black Sea coast. Winds will be moderate from the west, shifting to the southwest by the end of the day. Maximum air temperatures will range from 2°C to 5°C. The seawater temperature is 9°C –11°C. Sea state 2–3 on the Beaufort scale.

In the mountains, it will be mostly sunny but very cold. There will be strong northwesterly winds. The lowest temperatures at an altitude of 1,200 m will be around −3°C, at 2,000 m around −10°C.

On Friday and Saturday, the south-southwest winds will strengthen, especially in eastern Bulgaria and the areas located north of the mountains. Temperatures will rise quickly, and on Saturday the lowest temperatures will range between −4°C and 1°C, while the maximum temperatures will be between 10°C and 15°C. Most of the country will see some sunshine, but there will also be temporary increases in cloudiness, more significant on Saturday in Northern Bulgaria and the mountainous areas, where occasional rain is possible. Icy conditions may also occur.
