Romanian tourist first to visit Tsarevets Fortress in 2026

Marcel, a 26-year-old IT specialist from Galatz, Romania, is the first visitor to the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo and to any museum site in Bulgaria in 2026, according to BNR correspondent Zdravka Maslyankova. The architectural and museum reserve is the only one in Bulgaria that is open all year round.

In 2025, the fortress reported that Romanians were the most numerous foreign tourists, with over 50,000 visitors, followed by those from the US with over 35,000 visitors.
