Vesela Lecheva expects the new sports year to be even better than 2025

After bidding farewell to the very successful sports year 2025, the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Vesela Lecheva expressed hope for new achievements.

“This is the year of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, where Bulgaria will have its strongest Olympic team in years,” Lecheva said in her New Year greeting to athletes, coaches and sports leaders. Another important event is Giro d'Italia, which will start in Bulgaria with stages in Nessebar, Burgas and Plovdiv.

“One of the most anticipated sports events is undoubtedly the Men's European Volleyball Championship in September, where our world vice-champions will have the fortune to play in front of full stands in Sofia,” the President of the BOC added.

The country will also host other prestigious forums - the Snowboarding World Cup in Bansko in January, the 2026 European Shooting Championships in February, the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in May.
