Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov is returning to the court after missing almost half of last season due to treatment for a chest muscle injury he suffered in July last year at Wimbledon. His long absence led to a significant drop in the world rankings, where he currently stands at No. 44.

Grigor Dimitrov will play his first match of the New Year tomorrow at the ATP 250 hard-court tournament in Brisbane, Australia, facing world No. 93 Pablo Carreño Busta. The Bulgarian, who has won the tournament in the Australian city twice, has recorded four wins in a total of seven matches against the Spaniard.

“I’m coming to Australia with great hope and excitement that I’ll be able to play a full season, and I’m very grateful to be back here. That’s my main goal – to stay healthy, avoid injuries, and remain on court,” Dimitrov said.
