Thousands of citizens bid farewell to the great football coach Dimitar Penev. The homage at the National Stadium “Vasil Levski” began to the sounds of “The New Cemetery near Slivnitsa”, performed by a military orchestra, BGNES has reported.

Respect to the memory of Dimitar Penev was paid by the football players from USA 94, Hristo Stoichkov, Daniel Borimirov, Yordan Lechkov, Nasko Sirakov, Ivaylo Yordanov, Plamen Nikolov, former national players Dimitar Berbatov and Martin Petrov, three presidents – the current Rumen Radev, Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012) and Petar Stoyanov (1997-2002), the mayor of the capital city, Vasil Terziev, the Minister of Sports, Ivan Peshev.

"I am what I am, largely thanks to him. Until the last day, he was smiling. He helped everyone. Many coaches have left their mark, but he remains the Strategist. He wanted us to be like him and always fight for victory," said Hristo Stoichkov at the memorial service.
