Sophia and Alexander were the most popular names for newborns in 2025

In 2025, the most common names in Bulgaria for men and women were Georgi (138,653) and Maria (99,335). They are followed by Ivan and Elena. Among boys born last year, the most common names were Alexander – 666 babies were given this name, Georgi - 662, and Kaloyan - 577. For girls, for the first time in 9 years, the most popular name is not Victoria, but Sophia. 472 girls were named Sophia, 460 newborns were named Maria and 445 babies were named Victoria.
