The flu has spread throughout the country over the holidays

“The flu is already here; it’s not at the doorstep”, Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev said in an interview with BNR. After the current full workweek, it will become clear which regions are most affected, the expert explained.

The unusually warm weather is slightly accelerating the spread, although the flu is not strongly influenced by climatic conditions. This year, the peak in most regions is expected in the second half of January, said Associate Professor Angel Kunchev. The H3N2 strain has a strong potential to displace all other viruses, Angel Kunchev added.
