The base minesweeper Priboy, part of the Sixth Mine Countermeasures Ships Division, has set sail to take part in the latest activation of the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Naval Group “MCM BLACK SEA.” The vessel is heading to Istanbul, where it will participate in the ceremony marking the transfer of command of the group from the Romanian Navy to the Turkish Naval Forces.

The main tasks carried out by the ships included in the group are related to conducting reconnaissance and surveillance operations for sea mines, performing mine countermeasures activities in designated areas, and taking part in joint exercises aimed at improving operational interoperability. In addition, the participants contribute to enhancing NATO’s situational awareness in the Black Sea, the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense reported.
