The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent an official diplomatic note to Greece in connection with the closure of key road arteries and border crossings during the protest actions of Greek farmers.
The note emphasizes that the prolonged blocking of roads and border crossings has led to serious economic difficulties for Bulgarian transport companies, exporters, and citizens, as well as to violations of the free movement of people and goods guaranteed under European Union law.
The Bulgarian side expresses its expectation that the issue will be addressed constructively and in a spirit of good neighborly relations, and that concrete measures will be taken to prevent similar situations in the future.
Greek farmers, protesting over EU subsidies, have been periodically blocking border crossings between Greece and Bulgaria since the beginning of December 2025.
