The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) has launched a pilot project aimed at identifying and monitoring young footballers of Bulgarian origin living outside the country. As part of the initiative, a specialized football camp will be held in the United States between January 8 and 11, organized in partnership with Soccer Proxy – the BFU’s official strategic partner for North America.
Representing the Bulgarian football federation at the camp will be Lyubomir Dimov, Director of Youth Football Development, and Petar Karachorov, head coach of Bulgaria’s national under-15 team. They will observe the performances of selected children from football academies across North America. The main focus will be on assessing the players’ development potential and the possibility of their future inclusion in Bulgaria’s national teams.
This is the first time such an initiative has been implemented, with the goal of expanding and enriching the database of Bulgarian footballers abroad who could become part of the national teams in various age groups.
A similar camp will be organized later in Europe, in countries such as Spain, Germany, England, and others, where there is a significant concentration of Bulgarian communities and young footballers developing in local academies.
