Bulgaria has launched a digital nomad visa. It is valid for one year and can be extended, Euronews reported. The special visas are available to foreigners from “third countries” outside the EU and the European Economic Area.
Applicants must first obtain a long-term Type D visa from a Bulgarian embassy or consulate in their home country. Once in Bulgaria, they must apply for a residence permit under the Digital Nomad Visa programme within 14 days of arrival.
Applicants are required to provide documents proving a clean criminal record, health insurance, and proof of accommodation at a Bulgarian address. Applicants must provide an evidence of an annual income of at least 50 times the Bulgarian monthly minimum wage, or roughly EUR 31,000.
