Starting in February, Bulgaria will introduce a new “Bonus-Malus” system for the Motor Third Party Liability insurance. Under the new system, policy costs will rise significantly for drivers who cause accidents.
Some insurers are already applying a similar system, but soon it will become mandatory for all. According to forecasts, price differences between drivers’ policies could reach 50%. The change is expected to make the market fairer.
Last year, the average price of the Motor Third Party Liability insurance was between BGN 250 (EUR 127) and BGN 270 (EUR 138).
