Winter conditions delay some flights from Vasil Levski Airport

Vasil Levski Sofia Airport is operating normally under winter conditions, the airport press center reported. Runways are being cleared and treated against snow, and planes are receiving the necessary anti-icing treatment.

This is causing some flights to be delayed by about an hour at departure. Delays have affected flights to Madrid, Liverpool, Tel Aviv, Dortmund, London, Frankfurt, Turin, Eindhoven, Bari, Rome, Amsterdam, Munich, Varna, Paris and Berlin.

Due to the difficult winter conditions in Sofia, the Traffic Police urged drivers not to travel on January 8 unless absolutely necessary. Because of rain that fell before the snow, many roads in the capital are covered with ice beneath the snow.
