The Commission on Protection of Competition, with the assistance of the Ministry of Interior, is inspecting offices of companies in Sofia as part of an investigation into a possible cartel in public procurement for the supply of food to hospitals, Zhelyo Boychev, a member of the regulator, has reported.

The signal was sent by Vasil Pandov, an MP of “ We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, as he expresses suspicions of manipulation of procedures for public procurement for food for medical institutions by three companies. “Within a few months, we conducted a full-scale investigation and found the presence of a lot of data that gives grounds to initiate these proceedings,” Zhelyo Boychev said.

All orders for the supply of hospital food for the period 2022-2025, in which the companies participate as competitors, have been examined. The preliminary investigation has identified sufficient data pointing to one of the forms of prohibited agreement in the form of tender manipulation, the CPC specifies.
