From early Saturday morning, rain and snow are expected across much of Western Bulgaria, with icy conditions likely in some areas. Rain will gradually spread across the country, heaviest in the south. A moderate southwesterly wind will shift to the northwest, and in eastern Bulgaria to the northeast, bringing a surge of cold air. Orange warning for rain and snow is issued for 13 regions in Western and Southern Bulgaria.

Late Saturday afternoon, rain in Northeastern Bulgaria will turn to snow, with icy patches forming there and in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. Minimum temperatures will range from –3°C to 2°C, with Sofia around –3°C. Maximum temperatures will reach 3°C to 8°C, around 3°C in the capital.

Along the Black Sea coast, rain is expected, with daytime temperatures of 8°C to 10°C in the south. Sea temperatures will range from 9°C to 11°C, with waves reaching up to 3 on the Beaufort scale.

In the mountains, skies will be cloudy with snowfall, heaviest in the southwestern ranges. Strong to gale-force westerly and southwesterly winds will gradually turn northwesterly by the afternoon. Maximum temperatures at 1,200 metres will reach around 1°C, while at 2,000 metres they will be near –3°C.

On Sunday, temperatures will change little over the course of the day. Most of the country will see –5°C to 0°C, while the far east may reach 3–4°C. Snow is expected nationwide.
