Delyan Peevski calls for the resignation of Vasil Terziev over the waste crisis

The leader of “DPS–New Beginning”, Delyan Peevski, called for the resignation of Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, the party’s press center reported.

For months, Bulgaria’s capital has been sinking into garbage and filth, Delyan Peevski pointed out.

“DPS – New Beginning” will refer the matter to the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water-Sofia and the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate, requesting an urgent assessment of the risks to human life and health. The request concerns illegal landfills, uncollected household and industrial waste, and violations of the Waste Management Act and the Health Act, the statement further said.

“I have a responsibility to provide a service at an affordable price”, the mayor of Sofia said in response to citizens’ dissatisfaction with the waste problem in the capital city, which has worsened since the autumn of 2025. “I will solve this problem, regardless of how much my critics and opponents may doubt it”, Vasil Terziev assured.
