Bulgaria’s caretaker finance minister, Temenuzhka Petkova, said the process of adopting the euro was progressing smoothly and in full compliance with the legal framework.
Speaking to reporters at a ceremony marking the validation of the country’s first postage stamp for 2026, themed “Bulgaria in the euro zone”, Petkova said all relevant institutions were carrying out their responsibilities, including the Commission for Consumer Protection, the National Revenue Agency and other supervisory bodies, according to BTA.
The event was also attended by caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Grozdan Karadzhov.
With Bulgaria’s entry into the euro zone, the country would complete its full integration into the European Union, Petkova said. She described euro adoption as a long-standing aspiration for generations of Bulgarians and said she was pleased that it was being realised by the current government.
The benefits of joining the euro zone were beyond dispute, she added, citing economic, financial and price stability as the main gains.
