Washington has extended the license for the sale of foreign assets of the Russian oil giant Lukoil until 28 February, BTA reported. The current license is set to expire on 17 January.
In October last year, President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on the Russian energy companies Lukoil and Rosneft as part of efforts to pressure Moscow to end its invasion of Ukraine.
The extended license authorizes operations related to negotiations for the sale, disposal or transfer of Lukoil International and its assets. The Austria-based subsidiary owns the group’s foreign assets, including those in Bulgaria.
The license does not allow the transfer of funds to any person or account located within the territory of the Russian Federation.
