Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, who has submitted his resignation, has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to serve as Bulgaria’s representative on the Peace Council initiated by him.
The establishment of the Council, on the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to promote international cooperation to achieve a peaceful resolution of military conflicts in Gaza and other regions, the press secretariat of the head of state said.
In his reply to the President of the United States, Rumen Radev emphasizes the importance of President Donald Trump’s peace initiatives for the de-escalation of a number of military conflicts and expresses hope for finding sustainable peaceful solutions on a global scale.
Radev also highlights the recognition of Bulgarian diplomacy with the appointment of the Bulgarian diplomat Nickolay Mladenov as High Representative for Gaza in the Peace Council.
Radev expresses his expectation that “in the near future Bulgaria will have the necessary stable institutional environment to continue fruitful cooperation with the United States in the interest of joint efforts to preserve peace and security.”
