The
Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works is preparing an
increase in tolls for trucks from March 1. The new tariffs rise
between 30 to 130% on toll roads, according to the project uploaded
for discussion on the government's Public Consultation Portal.
The
rise is due to the introduction of an additional component in tolls -
carbon emissions. Until now, the price reflected only the costs of
maintaining the infrastructure. However, the country must introduce a
European directive from 2022, which includes the introduction of a
CO₂ component, as well as components for noise pollution and air
pollution caused by traffic jams.
The
new tariff for trucks and buses up to 12 tons with the carbon
component is 4 euro cents per kilometer on the highway, while for
vehicles over 12 tons it is from 5 to 7 euro cents per kilometer.
