Outgoing Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov held an online meeting with Tommy Joyce, Acting Assistant Secretary of International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy.
The two supported the establishment of a joint expert group (Energy Project Team) to work on three priority areas complementing cooperation in nuclear energy. The first area is critical raw materials and rare earth elements. Projects for pumped-storage hydropower plants (PSHP) using American technology will also be developed, which could make a significant contribution to balancing the energy system. The third area of development will be liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies and infrastructure development as a key element in efforts to diversify and enhance the security of energy supply, the Ministry of Energy reported.
