President Iotova begins talks on caretaker government

On Tuesday, 27 January, President Iliana Yotova will start meetings under the procedure for appointing a caretaker prime minister, according to the presidential office. Her first meeting will be with Raya Nazaryan, Speaker of the 51st National Assembly.

According to the latest constitutional amendments, the president may select a caretaker prime minister from a group of designated officials, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Governor or Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, the Chair or Deputy Chair of the Audit Office, and the Ombudsman or their Deputy.
