The
process of withdrawing the levs in circulation has been progressing.
67% of the levs have been collected in the Bulgarian National Bank
(BNB). 10 billion levs or 33 percent of the old money remains in
circulation. This was announced by Vladimir Ivanov, head of the Euro
Coordination Centre in Bulgaria and Commodity Exchange State
Commission, at a briefing.
From
February 1, 2026, payments in Bulgaria will be made only in euros.
All levs remaining can be safely exchanged - indefinitely at the BNB,
and in commercial banks until June 30, Ivanov recalled and urged
citizens who have money left in levs not to wait until the last
moment.
