President Iliana Iotova has began her meetings within the framework of the procedure for appointing an acting government with constitutional restrictions on the list of persons holding high state positions who can be elected as acting prime minister.

The Speaker of the 51st Parliament, Raya Nazaryan, was the first to meet with the President. After Nazaryan had stated several times that she would not take the position of prime minister, today she once again confirmed her refusal. "A political figure should not be an acting prime minister, because he must have a sense of impartiality. Otherwise, there will be expectations of interference in the election process," Nazaryan commented. According to her, it is already clear that the date of the early elections will not be March 29.

In the coming days, Iliyana Iotova will meet the other potential candidates for the position - the governor and deputy governors of the BNB, the chair of the National Audit Office and deputies, the ombudsman and the deputy ombudsman.
