The bridge over the Arda River on the national road in the village of Kitnitsa has been flooded again, leaving six villages in the Ardino municipality cut off from road access. The bridge is the only transport link for residents of the affected villages, Radio Kardzhali reported.
The mayor of Ardino municipality, Engineer Izet Shaban, has once again declared a partial state of emergency following the heavy rainfall on January 27, 2026. The measure applies to the villages of Rusalka, Lyubino, Latinka, Avramovo, Pesnopoy and Spoluka, where fewer than 600 people live in total.
“There is no danger to the population,” said Alexander Djartov, head of the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate, in an interview with bTV.
