Bulgaria’s parliament has approved the installation of video surveillance systems on traffic lights wherever technically feasible, under amendments to the Road Traffic Act, BGNES reports.
According to lawmakers, drivers who regularly run red lights or perform prohibited manoeuvres are significantly deterred when areas are under automatic monitoring.
Parliament also approved the creation of a national registry for electric scooters and their owners. "Each electric scooter will receive a national identification number containing ownership information. This will facilitate oversight by the Interior Ministry,” said BSP–United Left MP Kiril Dobrev, as quoted by BTA.
