Today, two more meetings of President Iliana Iotova took place within the framework of the consultation procedure for the appointment of an acting prime minister. According to the Constitution, there are 10 persons who can hold the position. Today, the president met with the Ombudsman of Bulgaria Velislava Delcheva and Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova. "The Ombudsman, as an independent body that must protect the rights of citizens when the state acts or fails to act to their detriment, has no place in the executive branch," Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva told journalists after her meeting with Iotova.

"I replied to the president that I would accept, if she decides, to be acting prime minister," said Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova. "I have been a civil servant for 15 years and have been working in various state institutions for the well-being of Bulgarians," she said in response to a question about why she is suitable for the position. Filipova said that she only assists Ombudsman Delcheva, thereby responding to the public defender's words that the institution has no place in the executive branch, BGNES reported.

Tomorrow, the last three meetings of President Iliana Iotova within the framework of the procedure will be held - with the President of the Audit Office Dimitar Glavchev and the Deputy Chairs Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kadreva. During the meetings held so far with the President of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan, the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Dimitar Radev and the Deputy Governors Petar Chobanov, Radoslav Milenkov and Andrey Gyurov, as well as Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva and Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova, Andrey Gyurov and Maria Filipova gave their consent to take the position of acting prime minister. After the talks are over, President Iliana Iotova must decide who will receive a mandate to form a caretaker government.
