North Macedonia will not introduce constitutional amendments until at least two conditions are met, North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said from the parliamentary rostrum in response to a question about the country’s path toward EU membership, reported BTA.
Hirstijan Mickoski said that the first condition was for the Macedonian community in Bulgaria to be granted the rights guaranteed under international law and international human rights conventions, adding that he was not seeking changes to Bulgaria’s constitution. ''Secondly, guarantees are needed for our Macedonian identity, for my Macedonian language, that there will be no more bilateral vetoes, and that this state, which has repeatedly shown and proven its desire to be part of the European family, which has made sacrifices like no other, and this people and these citizens, who like no other citizens of Europe have made sacrifices, will no longer be humiliated and, for subjective reasons, face new obstructions from anyone'', said Mickoski.
According to Mickoski, by adopting the EU negotiating framework in 2022, the then government of North Macedonia inflicted serious damage on the country’s EU integration process.
