Bulgaria, Greece and Romania will jointly plan, design, issue building permits and coordinate construction activities so that the North–South transport route quickly becomes a functioning corridor without interruptions, bureaucratic delays or excuses, outgoing Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadzhov announced at a forum in Sofia.

At the four-party meeting with the European Commission, the three countries agreed to begin practical work on implementing the cooperation memorandum for the Black Sea–Aegean Sea corridor. This memorandum was signed in Brussels in December 2025 with EU support.

Karadzhov highlighted the rapid completion of a new Danube bridge between Ruse and Giurgiu as a key priority for the corridor. He also emphasized plans to strengthen ferry connections across the Danube and expand other crossings.

He noted the strategic and economic importance of improving railway links along the western axis — from Athens and Thessaloniki through Promachonas, Kulata, Sofia and onward toward Vidin, Calafat, Craiova and Bucharest — as part of connecting the region more effectively.
