Bulgaria’s rising tennis star, Dimitar Kisimov, has reached the boys’ doubles final at the Australian Open — a remarkable achievement in his junior career.
Partnering with Connor Doig of South Africa, the 17-year-old overcame Mark Seban (UK) and Kirill Filaretov (Russia) in a thrilling semi-final that lasted 72 minutes, with a final score of 6–3, 4–6, 10–6.
In the final, Kisimov and Doig will face home favourites Ymerali Ibraimi and Cooper Kose, with both pairs aiming to lift the trophy in Melbourne.
This is Kisimov’s first junior Grand Slam. In singles, he was eliminated in the first round, but his success in the doubles has already put him in the spotlight.
Currently ranked 25th in the ITF junior rankings, Kisimov ended last year on a high by reaching the singles final at the prestigious J300 event in Bradenton, Florida — one of the toughest tournaments on the junior circuit.
