She is the only Bulgarian in the figure skating world elite. And
although she does not face competition in this country, she is on the
ice every day, building on what she has achieved for 18 years now.
Alexandra Feigin won
a quota for the Olympic Games in Milan - Cortina d'Ampezzo at the
World Figure Skating Championships in Boston after placing 21st. "The
last four years have been extremely difficult for me - I overcame
myself, I went through a lot of hardship and until the very end I thought that I
would not be able to get the quota, but the hard work is rewarded,"
she said about the fulfilment of her big dream.

In Italy, the figure skater will present unconventional compositions
created by the famous French choreographer Benoît Richaud. In the
short program, at the backdrop of the oriental motifs of Peter
Gabriel's The Feeling Begins, she takes on the image of a snake in
the desert. In the free skate, which is her favorite, she transforms
into a vampire. "The program shows Alexandra in a different
light, as both images have not been used before and require much
artistry," the coach of the national team, Ina Lutai, says.
Alexandra Feigin was
born in 2002 in Jerusalem, but grew up in Bulgaria, where she began
training in figure skating at the age of six. At the World
Championships in Stockholm in 2021, she finished 17th and secured a
quota for the Olympic Games in Beijing. In the Chinese capital, she
reached the free skate, competing with an operated knee.

The best rankings from her seven participations at the European
Championships are 11th place in 2019 in Minsk, 16th in 2023 in Espoo
and 14th in 2025 in Tallinn. Unfortunately, in January this year at
the European Figure Skating Championships in Sheffield she failed to
qualify for the free skate and remained 25th.
It turns out that
before the Olympic Games the best Bulgarian figure skater is training
in "inhuman conditions". In a video published by the
Bulgarian Skating Federation, the elite competitor is seen skating,
wearing a long winter jacket with steam coming out of her mouth.

Despite the difficulties, Alexandra Feigin leaves for Italy with the
happy feeling that the hardest part – winning the quota – is
already behind her. "It's time to enjoy the Olympic ice,"
the figure skater has told BNT.
In Milan, where the
figure skating competitions will be held, she will rely on her
perseverance, motivation, hard work, and determination to fight to
the end. Alexandra Feigin is realistic and considers winning an
Olympic medal impossible, as she does not perform the maximum
revolutions of some of the jumps. "My goals are performance
without mistakes and being happy with what I have done," she
says.

After the Olympic Games in Milan – Cortina d'Ampezzo, Alexandra
Feigin will take a break, as she did after Beijing 2022. Then she
will decide whether to continue her competitive career or take the
path of a coach. Meanwhile, she will experience the thrill of waving
the Bulgarian flag at the San Siro stadium in Milan – a privilege
given to those most dedicated to the Winter Olympic cause.
