A street in Sofia’s Manastirski Livadi–East residential district will be named after writer Terry Pratchett. The decision was taken at the latest session of the Sofia Municipal Council following a proposal by Triaditsa district mayor Dimitar Bozhilov, Dnevnik reports.
The street currently has no name, and under the decision, Sofia Municipality has three months to install street signs bearing the new name. In his reasoning, Dimitar Bozhilov notes that Sir Terry Pratchett was the best-selling author in the United Kingdom in the 1990s, and that his comic fantasy Discworld series had sold more than 55 million copies in 36 languages by 2007. Pratchett is the second most-read author in the UK and the seventh most-read non-American author in the United States.
