The film Made in EU, directed by Stephan Komandarev, won the Audience Award at the 52nd International Film Festival in Würzburg, Germany. After counting the votes, Made in EU and the Macedonian production DJ Ahmet, directed by Georgi Unkovski, were found to differ by only five decimal points, so the organisers awarded them joint first place. This was announced by the Bulgarian National Film Centre.

Made in EU, which already has a number of awards to its name, was part of the programme dedicated to cinema from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, attracting great audience interest.

It is a co-production between Bulgaria, Germany, the Czech Republic and France. The film takes us back to the time of the pandemic. Accused of causing a local outbreak, seamstress Iva becomes a scapegoat, persecuted by the system that has profited from her labour for years.
