President Iliana Iotova will visit Italy for the opening of the Winter Olympics at the invitation of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Kirsty Coventry. Bulgaria is represented at the games by 20 athletes. On February 5, Iotova will be a guest at the official reception given on the occasion of the Winter Olympics by the President of the IOC.
On
February 6, the Bulgarian President will be officially welcomed by
her Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella at the Royal Palace of
Milan at a reception for the solemn opening of the XXV Winter
Olympics. Iotova will also participate in the ceremony at the San
Siro Stadium, where the Olympic flame will be lit.
The
President’s program also includes a visit to the Olympic Village in
Milan and a meeting with Bulgarian athletes. Iotova will pay tribute
at the bas-relief of Vasil Levski in Piazza San Paolo in Monza.
