BNB now has a voice in ECB on setting the key interest rate in the eurozone

European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde has welcomed Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Governor Dimitar Radev to his first participation in the institution’s monetary policy meeting after Bulgaria joined the eurozone.

It’s a pleasure to welcome Bulgarian National Bank Governor Dimitar Radev to his first monetary policy meeting since Bulgaria joined the euro area just over a month ago, Lagarde wrote on her Facebook profile. The ECB meeting continues on February 5. The decision on eurozone interest rates is expected to be announced on Thursday. The decision is of historic importance for Bulgaria, as this is the first time that the BNB is officially participating in the ECB’s decision-making process as a full member.
