On February 9 and 10, the "European Jazz Horizons" start with two intriguing concerts and a master class, presenting renowned performers from the contemporary European jazz scene.

Ondřej Štveráček - one of the famous Czech musicians, arrives in Bulgaria for the first time. Together with his quartet, he presents a special program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary John Coltrane. The musicians define their style as post-Coltrane bop - deeply connected to traditions, but with strongly expressed modern charge and clearly recognizable creative aesthetics. The program includes original compositions by Štveráček and selected works from Coltrane's repertoire, as well as jazz standards.

On February 10, the musicians from the quartet: Czech saxophonist Ondřej Štveráček, Slovak pianist Klaudius Kováč, Czech double bass player Tomáš Baroš and American drummer Jesse Simpson will hold a master class in contemporary jazz improvisation, open to both professional musicians and amateurs.

Local jazz fans will have the opportunity to meet Romanian pianist and clarinetist Sorin Zlat and his trio, the famous Hungarian saxophonist Tony Lakatos and Romanian jazz singer Mihaela Alexa, Italian drummer Paolo Vicari and his trio, Bulgarian drummer Martin Hafizi, Slovenian pianist Marko Churnchetz and his trio, and the Greek formation Human Touch. The events are part of a European project and are held with the official partnership of the Bulgarian National Radio.
