Consumer confidence in January 2026 fell by 0.8 points compared to October 2025, according to data from the National Statistical Institute for Consumer Monitoring. The survey is conducted every three months.

The decline is attributed to waning confidence among Bulgarians living in urban areas. There has been no change in attitudes in rural areas.

Consumers continue to believe that consumer prices have risen over the past 12 months, albeit at a slower pace, while their inflation expectations for the next 12 months are less pronounced.

The survey shows a decline in willingness to spend on durable goods, home improvements and cars over the next 12 months.
